Serving Congress and the Supreme Court, the Architect of the
Capitol (AOC) is the builder and steward of the landmark buildings
and grounds of Capitol Hill. Our staff preserves and maintains the
historic buildings, monuments, art and inspirational gardens on the
Capitol campus.We are seeking an exceptional Supervisory Architect
who will be responsible for supervising professional, technical,
permanent, temporary and contract support staff in completing and
executing design activities in the architectural and interior
design disciplines.This position is located in the Architect of the

- Provides professional leadership and administrative direction
for a team of architects, interior designers and additional staff
as required.
- Establish guidelines and performance expectations for
employees.
- Provides guidance on performance evaluations, including due
dates, adequacy of the plans and evaluations.
- Provides for employee skills enrichment and development through
identification of opportunities for coaching, mentoring, and
training.
- Provides leadership to ensure support for equal employment
opportunity (EEO) goals and requirements.Project and Program
Management
- Identifies actions required to execute the project andto
accommodate changes leading to the assurance of architectural and
interior designrequirements and efficient use of resources during
the lifecycle of the project.
- Provides program management by exercising project control and
authority throughout the various phases of architectural and
interior design requirements.
- Ensures that practices and methodologies in the architecture
andinterior design field are aligned with AOC standards, historic
preservation principles, best practices, andincorporates where
appropriate and applicable new methodologies, technologies and best
practiceslearned internally or externally.Architectural and
Interior Design Management
- Exercises responsibility for planning, design, direction,
execution and control of architectural and interior design projects
and programs for the AOC.
- Coordinates withCongressional staff offices and technical
experts in architectural and interior design project
design,testing, installation, maintenance, repair and
operation.
- Providesarchitectural and interior design analysis and advance
planning for preservation, changes in real propertymanagement
methodologies for engineering related matters and its impact for
systems and capabilitiesfor proposed projects.
- Reviews design concepts, calculations, final designs and
construction documents for technicalaccuracy and compliance with
contract documents and with AOC and national construction
standards.Technical Advice and Guidance
- Assures the overall resolution of issues and identifies changes
and repairs necessary for architecturaland interior design
compliance in AOC properties and develops comprehensive plans to
carry outchanges.
- Maintains agency design standards.
- Provides expert advice to the officials and staff of AOC
jurisdictions, regarding architectural and interiordesign aspects
of design, modernization, operation, repair and maintenance systems
and equipment.Performs other related duties as assigned.Please
