Job SummaryThe Director of Student Support - Middle Schools is a
key member of the Student Support Academic team, responsible for
ensuring students with disabilities receive specially designed
instruction in the least restrictive environment. The starting
salary range is $103,491-$114,384. This is a full-time, on-site
role based at KIPP DC Public Schools, with an anticipated start

students and 1,300 staff members.About the RoleKIPP DC seeks a
dynamic and flexible Director of the Student Support Team to lead,
collaborate, coach, and support school leaders, compliance
managers, and service providers in all aspects of Special Education
and Student Support. The role is fully in-person, aimed at
increasing student achievement. The Director must also ensure
compliance with internal policies and procedures.Location and Type
of WorkThis is an exempt, headquarters-based position reporting to
the Managing Director of Student Support. As our work is
school-focused and in-person, the role requires being on-site
during regular work hours. The position involves working directly
in schools and supporting in-person student and family
needs.ResponsibilitiesCoaching and Development (40%)
- Promote data-driven practices to meet IEP and 504 plan needs
across assigned grades and schools.
- Set and model expectations for specially designed
instruction.
- Manage 6-8 Student Support team members.
- Supervise related service providers to ensure effective service
delivery and evaluations.
- Ensure high-quality instruction through observations and
feedback.
- Conduct high-quality observations and develop support plans for
educators.
- Lead data review sessions and train school teams on
dashboards.
- Collaborate with administrators to identify support needs for
educators.
- Support continuum of services and review student data
regularly.
- Manage the LRE review process at schools.
- Coach and hold staff accountable for best practices in special
education.Training & Development (30%)
- Work with school teams on progress monitoring systems for
students with IEPs.
- Conduct and present file reviews for additional support
needs.
- Meet regularly with school leadership on special education
priorities and data.
- Support implementation of aides and other support staff.School
Leader Support (30%)
- Partner with school leaders to identify and support classroom
needs.
- Assist in creating and implementing special education
priorities.
- Review student data and support full utilization of
services.
- Advise on curriculum, pedagogy, and data-driven
instruction.
- Update leaders on compliance metrics.
- Manage related service providers and facilitate collaboration
on student cases.
- Provide professional development on special education and
MTSS.
- Ensure fidelity in 504 and ELL processes.Requirements &
PreferencesRequired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience in district or school leadership in special
education
- At least 5 years of teaching experience (general or special
education)
- Understanding of IDEA and DC Eligibility Criteria
- Experience managing 504 plans
- Strong communication skills
