Job Description:

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Network Engineer responsible for providing networking support related to nuclear security, including stockpile management, nonproliferation, and nuclear security under the DOE. This position is fully onsite in Washington, DC or Manassas, VA.Must have active Top Secret or Q clearanceResponsibilities:

• Install, configure, maintain, and optimize LAN and WAN infrastructure, including routers, switches, VPN appliances, load balancers, and security devices.
• Apply security patches promptly to all network infrastructure devices.
• Monitor and troubleshoot network performance, utilizing management tools.
• Maintain an inventory of network assets, ensuring effective tracking and lifecycle management.
• Provide design recommendations and support during engineering meetings for network projects.
• Manage data center network infrastructure and collaborate on infrastructure expansion.
• Resolve network issues and outages, and schedule upgrades.
• Demonstrate expertise in routing, switching, and firewall configuration for secure LAN/WAN networks.
• Support Linux/Unix and Windows OS systems, ensuring integration with network services.
• Report on network performance, incidents, and infrastructure status.
• Serve as the primary contact for client inquiries and troubleshooting.
• Lead or support network/system projects, ensuring proper planning and execution.
• Implement security protocols to safeguard network infrastructure.
• Plan and implement backup and disaster recovery solutions.Qualifications:

• Experience with Cisco Router and switch configuration (IOS/NX-OS), Palo Alto Firewall, VPN, and familiarity with General Dynamics Taclanes and GEMOne.
• Knowledge of F5 Load Balancers, GTM/Big DNS.
• Proficiency in Windows and Unix/Linux operating systems, network security, traffic analysis, incident response, vulnerability assessment, and systems hardening.
• Strong understanding of layer 2 switching, layer 3 routing protocols, and encryption protocols such as TLS/SSL, IPsec, SSH, BGP, VLAN, etc.
• Experience in network design, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.Compensation:$150,000 - $175,000 depending on experience and degree.Full benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, Paid Holidays, PTO, Sick Leave (if required by law).This job opens for applications on 5/19/2025.
