Job Description:
General Summary
In collaboration with the physician, provides diagnosis and
treatment of patients within the scope of practice as defined by
all applicable Federal, State, and local laws, regulations,
protocols, etc. and within the individual Advanced Practice
Provider's (APP) particular clinical specialty area, licensure, and
competency level.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Evaluates patients admitted to supervising physician?s service
through physical examination and development of a detailed medical
history.
- Develops treatment plan and discusses proposed course of
treatment with patient?s attending physician.
- Performs patient rounds with accurate assessment of patient?s
physical status, overall progress, and current laboratory
evaluation.
- Writes progress notes, Histories and Physicals and discharge
summaries on patients? charts indicating patient status and
treatment/procedures performed.
- Determines and orders appropriate investigative studies and
therapeutic regimens as outlined by supervising physician
- May be responsible for the following duties based on Specialty:
? Performs procedures, for which training, and competency are
documented and physical exam as appropriate ? Actively participates
in development and implementation of quality and performance
improvement projects. ? Participates in clinical research and
development of new clinical initiatives. ? Competence in line
placement and equipment utilization ? Responsible for order
reconciliation during patient care ? Appropriately sees follow up
patient appointments in practice setting. ? Assists physician in
the operating room during surgery as appropriate. ? Obtains/records
initial patient histories/identifies problems/needs and designs
comprehensive management plans for patients. ? Refers to
appropriate physician(s) and community service(s) as appropriate ?
Requests appropriate diagnostic and screening procedures,
interpreting the results. ? Writes prescriptions for required
medication and/or treatment to meet management plan as allowed by
State Regulations and protocols ? Coordinates continued care for
individual patients and provides follow up of patients? response to
management plans. ? Provides emergency care as indicated and
supported by protocols.

in-service meetings, and workshops.

impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to
reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well
as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize
processes and ?error proof? systems that will lead to increased
safety; and participating in safety education programs and root
cause analyses as required.
- Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives,
quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control
standards.
- Acts as a resource, educator, and consultant to staff. Provides
patient and family education, support and follow up as needed.
- Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters
teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement
and innovation.

Qualifications
Minimum Education:
- Masters Degree For Nurse Practitioner. Required or
- Bachelors Degree For Physician Assistant. Required
- Masters Degree For Physician Assistant. Preferred
Work Experience:
- 1 year Relevant experience. Required
Licenses:
- Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner Upon Hire Required
or
- Licensed Physician Assistant Upon Hire Required and
- Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required or
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire Required or
- Neonatal Advanced Life Support Certification Upon Hire
Required
Courses and Training:
- BLS and/or ACLS and/or NALS as appropriate for the clinical
role. Upon Hire Required and
- For Nurse Practitioner - Completion of an accredited program
for nurse practitioners. Upon Hire Required or
- For Physician Assistant - Graduate of accredited physician
assistant program. Upon Hire Required
